TecnoCampus is an initiative led by the city Council of Mataró and local stakeholders in a public-private partnership that is being configured as the business and knowledge park at the North Gate of Barcelona; located in Mataró, 30km away northern of Barcelona in the new sea front of “El Rengle”. It is a unique model where the same organization, the TecnoCampus Mataró-Maresme Foundation, manages a university Campus, with three Schools (Engineering, Business and Healthcare) and a business park. This model seeks the development of a true Knowledge Hub as a result of the creation of a virtuous circle between universities and companies, through 30 years of evolution of the project in Mataró and a local investment in this new Park opened 2 years ago. The headquarter of the park has an area of about 50,000 square meters with three schools, the technological Center CETEMMSA, an innovation based startups incubator and spaces and services for companies that are innovative and technological based. The park is a project financed by the city Council of Mataró, with the support of the major economic and social stakeholders of the territory. The effort in promoting local strategies linked with the university, the support for entrepreneurship and R & D have led the City of Mataró to be labeled as one of the 30 City of Science and Innovation, awarded by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness
